The winner of the icon award initially trained to become a nurse. She started a family, and naturally felt concerned about the world her children would live in. She decided not to return to nursing and began volunteering for Greenpeace.

She continues to push forward the adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and also still energetically runs the company she founded in the 1990s.

The Academy has been life-changing for young people wishing to access a CRE role. They lead the way in their communities and help those coming behind them to also break into the industry.

Utopi demonstrated strong case studies and data with a mission to decarbonise the real estate sector. Students were given the ability to measure their energy and carbon emissions and savings are clearly measured and outlined in the submission.

Trilogy demonstrated innovation via a map which incorporates not only physical assets but also soft assets, which is a powerful tool in creating relationships within the community that may not always be available without such tools. Judges were particularly impressed by St George’s results in terms of getting young people engaged in the process, which in not easy to do. It is clear from the submission that there has been significant investment and effort put in to create community cohesion and engagement in the process of delivering this major development.

The project effectively integrates nature-based solutions and climate resilience. Showcasing how well-executed public realm improvements can revitalize urban areas and enhance quality of life.

They are a winner because they have created a place for all, and it has not just become a place, it is now a destination. And that for the judges, when we think about placemaking, is exactly what we want to achieve.

Berkeley demonstrates a long history of working with stakeholders and communities to support biodiversity protection. Knowledge sharing and collaboration is key in Berkeley’s approach to regeneration and supporting nature recovery. We want to see this continue into the future.

Battersea Power Station demonstrated an impressive impact on employment and skills and the support of hundreds of people coming from disadvantages backgrounds. It has transformed the former brownfield site into a world-class destination for the local community, residents, shoppers, workers and visitors, whilst saving one of London’s most important industrial landmarks.

Judges thought that the submission demonstrated a comprehensive approach to governance. They particularly liked the fact that Uncommon is aiming to become the best place to work in London and that they have put in place structures to ensure that this is not just a meaningless statement, but an achievable goal.

Julie's passion for sustainability and ESG is well articulated and evidenced in the many supporting testimonials. Her devotion for driving ESG and her commitment to climate action extends way beyond her day job through the myriad voluntary roles she takes on and her determination to really make a difference through purposeful action.

The range of ESG initiatives MAPP is involved in demonstrates the deep commitment for them to excel in their strong ESG values. Really great scheme with a comprehensive set of ESG strategies and measures implemented, eg. energy efficiency, embodied carbon, sustainable transport, community engagement and social value creation, overall, a really strong outcomes and very good testimonials!

Muse are clearly a business that understands all three aspects of ESG, walking the walk when it comes to their projects and supporting the communities within which they operate.

The project showcased excellence in retrofitting for modern sustainability and ESG standards, with an innovative approach, positive impact, and transparent, collaborative management.

VOG architectural and historic nature of the buildings, the Argyll team succeeded in improving EPC ratings and reducing emissions while applying the approach of ‘minimum intervention’, maximising re-use of existing materials. The project stands out not only for the scale of improvements but for the methods employed to achieve them.
